Aims of Noctilien

To facilitate travel in and around Paris, STIF (the regional transport authority for the greater Paris area set up by local government) has launched a regional night bus service - NOCTILIEN - which runs all night long in the greater Paris area.

Noctilien is a night service operating from 12:30am to 5:30am, 7 nights a week all year round. This all-encompassing service aims to provide Parisians (inhabitants of the city of Paris and the inner and outer suburbs) with a high-quality, safe service.

Noctilien is also a highly-integrated night bus network in terms of image, connecting stations, information to passengers and pricing. Each route number is preceded by an N indicating that it belongs to the night bus network.

With Noctilien, STIF aims to make night travel easier for all Parisians.

Noctilien aims to:

1 - Strengthen the existing basic service and meet the increasing demand for night travel.

2 - Ensure continuity with daily public transport services to create a true night service in line with the day service.

3 - Free up Châtelet and offer a genuine structured night network, which is modern and has more buses, to improve connections between the different methods of transport.

4 - Extend, diversify and facilitate connections by serving not only Paris and its inner suburbs but also all the new towns and the main trading centres in the outer suburbs.

5 - Offer a high-quality, safe service for all Parisians.
